Pauls erstes Jahr an einer Elite-Uni, die die Reichen und Schönen Frankreichs erfolgreich auf ihre zukünftigen Manager- und Politkarrieren vorbereitet, beginnt vielversprechend. Er teilt ein Zimmer mit dem äußerst attraktiven Louis-Arnault, der seinen Körper durch Wasserpolo und Sex stählt, und lernt noch dazu Mecir kennen, einen jungen arabischen Hilfsarbeiter, der dem verwirrten blonden Erstsemestler eindeutige Avancen macht. Bevor Paul jedoch seine geheimen Sehnsüchte überhaupt begreift, hat seine clevere Verlobte Agnes längst durchschaut, dass ihr Konkurrenz droht. Nicht gewillt, ihren potenten Langzeit-Lover ohne Kampf der Männerwelt zu überlassen, schlägt sie Paul einen Deal vor: Landet er zuerst im Bett mit Louis-Arnault, wird sie ohne Zögern das Feld räumen; gelingt es aber ihr, den Casanova schneller zu erobern, muss Paul seinen homoerotischen Neigungen auf immer Adieu sagen. Ein freches Ränkespiel beginnt, das konsequent auf einen explosiven Höhepunkt zusteuert.

MAURICE trifft GEFÄHRLICHE LIEBSCHAFTEN in diesem äußerst freizügigen, hoch erotisierten Drama voller schöner Menschen. Sexuelle Identitätssuche und Grenzerfahrung werden dabei in dem ungewöhnlichen Regiedebüt ebenso beleuchtet wie der Zusammenprall gesellschaftlicher und ethischer Konventionen.

From films like Another Country or Maurice , we know that British universities are hotbeds of upper-class homoeroticism. But what about the other side of the channel? GRANDE ECOLE by Robert Salis gives us a similar look into the lives of the young elite of France, and it's even more complicated, with race thrown into the stew of sex and class.

The “great school” is a French Harvard Business School, where uber-rich kids learn to become tycoons. Among the students is Paul (Gregori Baquet), who, in one of many parallels to Maurice , is not quite to the manor born. To his surprise, he finds himself emotionally and sexually drawn to his rich, powerful and gorgeous roommate Louis (Jocelyn Quivrin). He finds relief — and release — when a working-class Arab (in other words, totally inappropriate) young man (Salim Kechiouche) comes on to him hard.
