Welcome to verzaubert international queer filmfestival

Verzaubert 2004 – It will be another torturous year for the undecided – our recommendation: run, don’t walk to get tickets for each and every cineastic gem we selected for this year’s festival. There’s something for every taste – go for the favourites or choose something exotic – disappointment is not an option! Themes range from Coming Out to First Love – from sex in all its close-up glory to (both wanted and unwanted) violence and its consequences.

THREE DANCING SLAVES, our Opening Gala, presents France at its thrilling best, while our Centerpiece A HOME AT THE END OF THE WORLD boasts a fantastic Oscar-worthy cast and our Closing Night’s romantic YOU I LOVE will sweep you off your feet. Other highlights are the three daring documentary premieres DANGEROUS LIVING: COMING OUT IN THE DEVELOPING WORLD, TYING THE KNOT and PATERNAL INSTINCT. Be sure not to miss our shorts programmes: GAY PROPAGANDA NIGHT, BAD BOYS, YOUNG, HORNY & FUCKED UP, LESBISCH – DIE FREIHEIT NEHM ICH MIR and VERLIEBTE JUNGS.

For a laugh-out-loud weekend moment, check out our Matinee program, CONNIE AND CARLA – which single-handedly manages to turn everyone into a sing-along drag queen. For all those who loved PRISCILLA... this festival favorite is the one not-to-be-missed. Another insider suggestion: TARNATION. Heartbreaking and unforgettable. Praised by critics worldwide, this film sets a new standard in personal narration filmmaking.

As usual, almost all of our films are presented in English or with English subtitles. We would like to invite you to participate in selecting the audience favorites for the Rosebud Award 2004. Ballotts will be handed out before each competition film.
